Online reviews give customers a way to publicly voice their opinions and share their experiences with different businesses. When customers take the time to review local businesses, they help both the businesses and potential clients.

A positive review helps others decide where to spend their money and brings customers to local businesses.  Each positive review is someone else vouching for a business, and the more positive reviews a business has, the more new customers they get.  People used to ask around for recommendations, but now most people go online to see what kind of experiences people are having with different companies before they decide where to do business.

A negative review doesn’t bring in more customers, but they can help a company know where they need to improve.  A smart business owner will see a negative review as a chance to improve and will take action based on the feedback provided. Regularly reading online reviews can help businesses owners know where their strengths are and where there are weaknesses.  One negative review won’t break a business, but multiple negative reviews about the same issues will warn potential customers to keep moving.

A review can be based on a total experience with a company or with a specific part of an experience.  You can also write reviews praising individual employees that go above and beyond what’s expected of them.  Writing a review doesn’t take a lot of time, but it can make a huge difference for a local business.
